The 12th China Air Cargo Summit will take place on 19th-20th November in Shanghai. The event will bring in the industry’s most sought after speakers and providing incredible networking opportunities for government bodies, airlines, airports, cargo terminals, freight forwarders, and suppliers both at home and abroad.

Since its inception in 2004, the China Air Cargo Summit has become the most prominent international industry event in China, with the past 11 editions taking place in the most developed domestic cities including Shanghai, Beijing, Hangzhou, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.

This year’s event organized by Summit Asia Events will focus on the theme of “The opportunities and challenges brought about by the ‘One Road, One Belt’ national strategy”. “One Road, One Belt” refers to the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013, with the purpose of rejuvenating the two ancient trading routes. The national strategy currently under implementation in China is expected to diversify trade, investment and bilateral ties with countries along the region and enable easier domestic market access for foreign companies, creating opportunities for airlines and airports in China and around the world.

Authoritative data show that in the next 20 years the global air cargo industry will increase at an annual pace of 5% on average with China and Asia growing 7.4% and 6.8% per year. However, the Chinese cargo airlines while have increased their capacities and routes, have fallen into financial losses. A consensus has been made within the industry that they need to transform themselves to find a way out to profitability.

It is against this background, this year’s conference is being organized. Shanghai has seen its Pudong International Airport being ranked first nationally and third globally in terms of cargo traffic for seven consecutive years. Shanghai is also the place where the first China free trade zone being situated. Pudong Airport has intensified efforts towards sustained and transitional development by shifting its focus from infrastructure development to the improvement and optimization of services.
